Globally, between 700 and 800 million people continue to live in chronic hunger. Yet the burden is not evenly shared.
From community outreach to education and support for vulnerable families, EACHF’s efforts are small pieces of a much larger puzzle—one that requires collective effort to complete.

World Hunger Day is not just about awareness. It is a reminder that hunger persists not because it cannot be solved, but because it has not yet been solved well enough, consistently enough, or collectively enough.

The theme of this year’s International Day of Families—“Families, Inequalities and Child Well-being”—reminds us that the heart of every community is the family, and that the well-being of children is deeply tied to the strength, stability, and resources of the families they are born into.

Yet, for too many families across Africa, the daily struggle to put food on the table overshadows everything else.
When a household struggles with poverty, rising food prices, or displacement caused by conflict, the effects ripple quickly. Economic instability, climate shocks, and conflict are eroding their ability to provide even the most basic needs. The result is a quiet but devastating outcome: children growing up without the nutrition they need to survive and thrive.

When families are supported, children are protected. When families struggle, children suffer.

As Tapiwa Gomo says, we can’t wait for the crisis to escalate. At EACHF, we believe that no parent should have to watch their child go hungry. By supporting sustainable food solutions and immediate nutritional aid, we are building a future where becomes a reality.

There was a time when Nigeria’s story was framed around promise — Africa’s largest economy, a youthful population, vast agricultural potential. Today, a different narrative is emerging, one that is far more troubling and far less discussed: Nigeria is fast becoming the global epicentre of chil...

Every day, millions of children across Africa face the harsh reality of hunger. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

No child should ever have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. No child should go to bed hungry.

The truth is, we can’t do this alone. Our success depends on the compassion and action of people like you. Whether through a donation, spreading the word, or volunteering your time, your support directly impacts a child’s life.
How you can help today:
* Donate: Even a small contribution provides vital nutrition.

Let’s work together to make hunger a thing of the past.

There was a time when bread was the simplest thing on the table. Affordable. Accessible. Almost taken for granted. Today, for millions of families across Africa—especially in Nigeria—that same loaf has quietly become a luxury. The numbers explain part of the story, but not all of it. Global food...

While global hunger shows a slight downward trend, the "crisis within the crisis"—childhood malnutrition—remains at a breaking point. In hotspots like Nigeria, Sudan, and the DRC, millions of children face life-altering stunting and wasting. This isn't just a localised problem; it is a global moral and economic emergency.

Addressing this requires a unified front. Governments must prioritise food security in policy and funding, individuals must advocate and contribute, and organisations must integrate sustainable solutions.
This is where the vision of non-profits like EACHF becomes vital.

By focusing on the most vulnerable, they turn dire statistics into stories of survival. Supporting such initiatives ensures that life-saving therapeutic food reaches the "heart of the crisis." We must move beyond awareness to active investment; the cost of inaction is a generation’s potential lost to hunger.

Africa now carries the world’s heaviest burden of hunger, with West and Central Africa spiralling into a full-blown emergency. At the epicentre sits Nigeria, where conflict and climate shocks have created a catastrophic vacuum of food security.

The data is clear—this is no longer a "looming" threat; it is a current reality where children are the primary victims, facing irreversible wasting and stunting. For the global community, governments, and private organisations, looking away is a choice that carries a human toll.

We must rally behind the vision of non-profits like EACHF. Their boots-on-the-ground efforts in Nigeria and across the Sahel are the thin line between crisis and recovery. The world must act now—before the maps turn even darker

Across low-income communities, families are making impossible choices. A mother stands in a small shop, calculating what she can afford. Rice or medicine? Cooking oil or transport fare? Protein or school fees? Increasingly, the answer is not “both.” It is one or the other.

Inflation is often discussed in percentages, policy debates, and economic forecasts. It sounds distant, almost technical. But for millions of families across Africa—especially in Nigeria—inflation is not an abstract concept. It is a daily negotiation between survival and sacrifice. In 2026, that...
