Our hearts go out to our brother and sister firefighters in the Boston Fire Department on the loss of Firefighter Robert β€œBK” Killduff, Jr., who died in the line of duty at a fire yesterday evening.

Robert β€œBK" Kilduff, Jr. exemplified what it meant to be a union firefighter. BK was passionate about his profession, assigned to Rescue Company 2, and passionate about improving the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters, working as a staff member of the PFFM for the last 15 years.

More than anything else, BK was passionate about being a father. The PFFM sends all of our love and support to both of his children and will stand with Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF to ensure they have whatever they need.

Rest easy BK.

It's getting hot in here! If you're breaking out the air conditioner to beat the heat, remember that ACs and other heavy appliances should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet -- not an extension cord or power strip. More electrical safety tips: https://ow.ly/TFJg50SBOW6

Just before 10 AM this morning the Ayer Fire Department and Ayer Police Department along with the animal control officer were dispatched to Washington Street at Coolidge for some ducklings trapped in a storm drain. Retired Captain Sean Farley called in the situation and assisted crews in completing the rescue. After a group effort that took about one hour, all 17 ducklings were removed from the storm drain and safely placed in a wetlands area where they were reunited with their mother.
