Be Advised: The Ayer Fire Department will be conducting Water Rescue Training this evening (6/17) at Sandy Pond Beach between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. There will be emergency vehicles, boats, and personnel engaging in various water rescue scenarios.

Engine 2, Chief Johnston, and Deputy Chief Januskiewicz responded to Devens last night to assist with this incident. Crews operated on scene for approximately two hours before returning to town.

Important Update Regarding Memorial Day Parade

Due to forecasted rain, the organizers have informed the Town of Ayer, MA that they will be cancelling the parade portion of the ceremony.

The Memorial Day Ceremony will still be conducted at the Ayer Town Hall (Indoors) in the Great Hall at 10am. All are welcome to attend.

Our hearts go out to our brother and sister firefighters in the Boston Fire Department on the loss of Firefighter Robert “BK” Killduff, Jr., who died in the line of duty at a fire yesterday evening.

Robert “BK" Kilduff, Jr. exemplified what it meant to be a union firefighter. BK was passionate about his profession, assigned to Rescue Company 2, and passionate about improving the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters, working as a staff member of the PFFM for the last 15 years.

More than anything else, BK was passionate about being a father. The PFFM sends all of our love and support to both of his children and will stand with Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF to ensure they have whatever they need.
