To all Baileys Harbor residents:

The Baileys Harbor Fire Department has implemented a town wide burn ban. This includes all outside burning of brush piles, leaves, burn barrels, etc.

Campfires will be allowed in a controlled campfire ring. Please extinguish completely with water when finished.

Door County is in a HIGH fire hazard at this time with no rain in the foreseeable future.

Please be smart in your outside activities that may cause a fire.

Stay safe!

Chief Zak

Congratulations Chris!!!

On July 31st 2023 at 1200 hours, Paramedic Chris Hecht completed his final shift as a full-time paramedic. Chris began his service to the county in 1987 and became a permanent full-time employee in 1992. We estimate that Chris provided care for over 4,600 patients during his career.

Paramedic Hecht has always taken pride in being a Door County Paramedic. During his career he was always looking for more ways to help the service and community. He has secured millions of dollars in grants and been instrumental in designing our ambulance fleet. Most importantly, Chris always provided the highest level of care to all of his patients.

Paramedic Hecht, you have set a standard we should all work to emulate. Congratulations on your retirement. One behalf of the service, and community; Thank you, Chris! Enjoy the next chapter.
