Today, I present Cpl. Daniel Borden and Officer Mackenzie Hewitt with Life Saving Awards.

The two responded to a medical call on March 19 2026 where a woman was down do to a cardiac event. Their quick response and training were key factors in saving this woman’s life. I am extremely proud of both officers and the way they represented the Police Department and the Town. Congratulations on a job well done.

It’s a little late, but today around 12:30-12:45, Officer Borden was promoted to Corporal. He has been assisting in the field training program of other officers and also helping with our evidence room.
He is a valuable asset to the Baileyville Police Department.
Congratulations for a job well done!

Today our newest officer, Emmitt Gardner, completed 18 weeks of intense police training at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. He is now a full-time, certified police officer, for the town of Baileyville and the state of Maine.
The entire department, but especially myself are proud of Officer Gardner’s accomplishments and can’t wait to get him back on the road and assisting the citizens of Baileyville.

The 11th annual Stuff the Bus and Food Drive, is in the books!
This year we incorporated the food drive to help out families in need.
With that being said, the Baileyville Police Dept. recruited many new volunteers. The ladies from the Baileyville branch of Downeast Federal Credit Union, braved the cold and collected food all day at the Calais IGA.
Officer Borden, Brittany Goding, and her JMG students, accepted food donations at Tradewinds in Calais. While Jamie Bohanon, Devon Wilder, and Officer Gardner accepted toys at Mardens.
Myself, Sgt. Matt Vinson, Officer Hewitt, and Cpl. Matt Carter from the Washington County Sheriff’s Dept; along with his K-9 Tango, accepted donations at the Calais Walmart.
While at Walmart, Commander Mike McLean showed up with a whole box of back packs for the kids.
It is always a great day and I would like to thank all the stores for helping out and allowing us to take up parking lot space. They all go above and beyond to help us out any way they can.
I need to extend a BIG thank you to Rhonda Bowen and her family for once again being the largest contributors to the toy portion.
I would also like to thank the Red Knights for all of their donations and for helping us to load and unload the bus and all the vans.
Last but not least, I would like to thank the Baileyville School Dept and “Bus driver Bill” for always stepping up and helping every year.
The community event is truly a humbling experience. I want to personally thank EVERYONE that helped and donated.
