This fall, Bainbridge Youth Services is partnering with Dr. Janis Whitlock, PhD, MPH, a nationally recognized expert on youth mental health and self-injury, for an interactive workshop designed specifically for youth ages 15–18.

We’ll talk about:

• What self-injury is—and isn’t
• How to recognize when a friend may be struggling
• What to say when someone opens up
• When to involve a trusted adult
• How to support yourself and others

Youth will have a chance to talk, practice, and participate through small-group discussion and practicing real-life conversation skills.

BYS therapists will help facilitate the activities and answer questions.

Date: Oct 15th
Time: 3:30
Place: BYS

You are not alone. And you don’t have to know all the answers.

Dr. Whitlock founded the Cornell Research Program on Self-Injury and Recovery and has spent more than 20 years studying youth mental health, self-injury, resilience, and recovery.

Every day, we hear from young people, parents, educators, and community members about what's changing in the lives of our youth. Those conversations shape the work we do.

This fall, we're launching new educational programs designed to give young people, parents, and caregivers the knowledge and tools they need to navigate today's challenges. Click below to learn more about what's ahead and how your support helps make it possible.

We'd love to hear from you!

As we plan for the upcoming year, we're excited to expand our programming for both youth and parents. We're developing new educational opportunities focused on some of the most important issues facing families today.

One of our first initiatives is already in development and will focus on the growing epidemic of online gambling among youth. We're also considering future programming on topics such as AI relationships and social connection, gaming addiction, and other emerging challenges affecting young people.

So, we'd love your input! We've created a short questionnaire because we want to hear directly from our community. What concerns you most? What topics would you like to learn more about?

Your feedback will help shape future programming and ensure we're providing parents with the knowledge and resources they need to support the young people in their lives.

This video captures what the BYS Fun Run is all about, from our youngest Kids Dash participants to some of our most seasoned runners and walkers. It was a beautiful reminder that supporting youth mental health is something every generation can be part of.

Together, more than 1,200 of you showed up as runners, walkers, Kids Dash participants, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters.

And because of you, we raised more than $55,000 to support youth mental health in our community.

To everyone who ran, walked, volunteered, donated, cheered, or simply believed in this mission, thank you.

You made this year's Fun Run one to remember.

Until next year! 🏃‍♀️💙
