Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, Baker City Fire stands alongside our community in gratitude for those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We also remember the families who carry their legacy forward every day.

May we take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor the fallen.

Happy International Firefighter’s day🔥

Today, we recognize and honor the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of firefighters around the world.

On International Firefighters’ Day, we thank the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our communities—whether responding to fires, medical emergencies, rescues, or disasters. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

To all firefighters—career and volunteer—thank you for your service, your strength, and your unwavering commitment to keeping others safe.

Thank you, dispatchers for all that you do!

Thank you, dispatchers for all that you do!

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is a time to recognize the voices behind the headset who serve as a vital lifeline for our communities. Their work may go unseen but their impact is lasting.

Did you know that the 911 Dispatchers at the Baker County Sheriff's Office dispatch for law enforcement, fire, EMS, Bureau of Land Management AND U.S. Forest Service? In 2025, they answered 52,537 business line calls and nearly 7,000 911 calls.

We commend their dedication, professionalism and sacrifice. 💛

We have often been getting asked why firefighters show up for medical emergencies. Here’s why:

•We’re medically trained: Firefighters are certified in CPR, First Aid, and all career staff at BCFD are either EMTs or Paramedics.

•Teamwork with EMS: We work alongside ambulance crews to provide patient care, assist with lifting, gather vital information, and help stabilize patients before and during transport.

•We respond to more than fires: Medical calls make up the majority of 911 responses nationwide often 70-85%. Serving the community means being ready for any emergency — not just fires. Our priority is always your safety and well-being. When you call 911, you’re getting a team response focused on providing the fastest, highest level of care possible.

•Faster response times:
Sometimes firefighters can arrive before the ambulance, due to station and ambulance locations, and provide lifesaving care immediately. In emergencies like cardiac arrest, severe bleeding or bleeding problems- seconds matter.
