Two of our beloved retired K9s, Vala and Sadie, recently reunited and enjoyed some well-deserved time together with their favorite humans. After years of dedicated service to our community, both girls were forced to retire due to injuries sustained. 🧡🐾
A special thank you to Handler Strader and Lieutenant Sullivan for the countless hours, personal sacrifices, and out-of-pocket expenses devoted to our K9 program. Even today, Lt. Sullivan continues training the next generation of K9s, Maverick and River.
Our K9 team relies on community support for equipment, training, and veterinary care when necessary. Our team is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit group serving the Kern County community, please consider donating and sharing this post to help support the K9s and handlers, who give so much to serve our community at no cost to the public.
Every donation makes a difference.

After 6 ½ amazing years, K9 Vala officially retired efew back. 🐾🧡
Alongside handler Lyle Conrad, she served as one of our Human Remains Detection fur-volunteers and stole hearts everywhere, even building her own fan club at PR events. ✨
Now she’s enjoying the good life with her favorite humans (especially her “little brother human”), plenty of toys, and endless belly rubs.
Thank you for everything, Vala, retirement looks good on you! 🐶💫

🐾🧡Celebrating K9 Retiree Sadie 🧡🐾
Today we’re shining a spotlight on one very special girl, Sadie, our beloved K9 retiree!
With her incredible discipline in area scent, Sadie faithfully served our community from 2015–2025 alongside her dedicated handler, Lt. Sullivan. Through her years of hard work, determination, and heart, Sadie helped bring many loved ones back home to their families giving comfort, closure, and hope when it was needed most.
Now, Sadie is enjoying her well-earned retirement, living her very best dog life with her family. She spends her days alongside her brother Maverick, who continues the mission as a human remains detection volunteer, and her sister River, who is currently in training for area search. Safe to say, service runs in the family! 🐶✨
We would also like to recognize and commend Lt. Sullivan for her years of service to our community since 2007, and for her unwavering dedication to K9 training. Because of her commitment and partnership with Sadie, many families have found peace and the comfort of bringing their loved ones home.
Thank you, Sadie, for your service, your loyalty, and your legacy. Enjoy every moment of retirement, you’ve more than earned it! 🐾

Big weekend for Loki and Captain Fuentez! 🐾
Loki put his HRD skills on full display and proved just how far he’s come. Watching him work and having experts there to witness his finds and share their insights, made it even more rewarding.
Captain Fuentez is feeling confident that Loki is on the right track toward certification. This is just the beginning… stay tuned for more updates on Loki’s journey!

Big things are already happening for our newest K9 team member💥🐾
Chevette Von Schattengeist
Meaning, Shadow Ghost
At just 6 months old, Chevette is proving she was born for this. Her natural drive, focus, and enthusiasm are already shining through in training and it’s been incredible to watch her energy be shaped into something truly special on the trailing field.
Behind every great K9 is a dedicated handler, and Ronda’s patience, consistency, and commitment are clearly paying off. The bond they’re building and the progress they’re making together speak volumes.
This is only the beginning for Chevette, and her potential is undeniable. We’re excited to watch her grow, develop, and eventually hit her full stride.
Thank you Andrea Lynne and Matt Pflugh for allowing our team to train on your beautiful property, your hospitality and your guidance. Your expertise in K9 training will make a big difference to our handlers and K9s. We are looking forward to the next one.
The future is bright for this team, stay tuned. 🐕✨🧡
