Today, we remember and celebrate the life of our beloved Captain Aaron Lynam on what would have been his birthday.
Not a day goes by that we don't think of him, miss his leadership, or remember the countless ways he impacted our team and community. His dedication, strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others left a lasting mark on all of us. He was more than a captain, he was a mentor, a friend, and a family member to so many.
While birthdays are meant to celebrate life, today also reminds us of the void his passing left behind. We miss his laugh, his guidance, and the presence that brought comfort and confidence to every mission and every challenge we faced together.
To his wife and children, please know that you are in our thoughts today and always. Thank you for sharing him with all of us. His legacy continues to live on through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories we hold close to our hearts. We hope you find comfort in knowing he will never be forgotten.
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Captain. Your watch may have ended, but your impact will remain with us forever.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. 🧡

Kern County Sheriff's Office is working toward our goal of sponsoring 1,000 wreaths by December 1 to honor every veteran laid to rest at Bakersfield National Cemetery. Be a part of our contribution by scanning the code. We still need 720 more wreaths ($17 each) to reach our goal.

Every wreath sponsored is a meaningful tribute to the service and sacrifice of our veterans.

If you’d like to sponsor a wreath or sign up to volunteer at the December 19 wreath laying ceremony, you can do both here: https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/CA0954

Every wreath truly makes a difference, and we are grateful for a community that honors the sacrifice our veterans have made. 🇺🇸

A huge thank you to KCL - Beale Memorial Library for inviting our team out to share what we do in service to our community! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families, answer questions, and showcase the important role Search and Rescue plays throughout Kern County.
Our K-9 partners, Chevette and Maverick, were definitely the stars of the day! They had an amazing time meeting everyone and soaking up plenty of pets and attention from all the kids.
We appreciate the warm welcome and the chance to inspire community involvement and awareness. Thank you, Beale Library, for your support of local volunteers and public safety!

🐾 K-9 Training Day! 🐾
Our K-9 team continues to put in the work behind the scenes to ensure they're ready when the call comes.
We're excited to highlight the tremendous progress being made by our newest K-9, Chevette, who continues to build confidence, skills, and drive with every training session. The future looks bright for this up-and-coming search partner!
Meanwhile, Maverick has been hard at work sharpening his scent detection abilities as he prepares for a cadaver detection event later this month. His dedication and ongoing training are a testament to the commitment required of both our handlers and K-9s.
Every successful mission starts with countless hours of training, teamwork, and trust. We're proud of the progress these teams are making and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.

Happy belated birthday Bob (Baker 41), and thank you for your service.

Two of our beloved retired K9s, Vala and Sadie, recently reunited and enjoyed some well-deserved time together with their favorite humans. After years of dedicated service to our community, both girls were forced to retire due to injuries sustained. 🧡🐾
A special thank you to Handler Strader and Lieutenant Sullivan for the countless hours, personal sacrifices, and out-of-pocket expenses devoted to our K9 program. Even today, Lt. Sullivan continues training the next generation of K9s, Maverick and River.
Our K9 team relies on community support for equipment, training, and veterinary care when necessary. Our team is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit group serving the Kern County community, please consider donating and sharing this post to help support the K9s and handlers, who give so much to serve our community at no cost to the public.
Every donation makes a difference.

After 6 ½ amazing years, K9 Vala officially retired efew back. 🐾🧡
Alongside handler Lyle Conrad, she served as one of our Human Remains Detection fur-volunteers and stole hearts everywhere, even building her own fan club at PR events. ✨
Now she’s enjoying the good life with her favorite humans (especially her “little brother human”), plenty of toys, and endless belly rubs.
Thank you for everything, Vala, retirement looks good on you! 🐶💫
