Bakersfield GLAD (B-GLAD) B-GLAD, an outreach of the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, Inc. serves the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing residents of Kern County since 1984.

The Services We Provide:

Human Services: Empowerment of deaf and hard of
hearing individuals and their families through promotion
of personal growth, self reliance and independence.

• Independent Living Skills
• Information and Referral
• Peer Counseling
• Community Education

Family Health Services: Deaf-friendly health education
to deaf and hard of hearing individuals and promotion

of physical, mental and social wellness.

‼️ Attention! The “Senior Citizens of Bakersfield Social Events” calendar is ready for 2026-2027, 2nd Thursday of every month!
If you are 50+ and would like to meet others (Deaf, Hard-of Hearing, DeafBlind, and Late Deafened) in the community, please join us! The group meets on the second Thursday at different restaurants for either breakfast or lunch.

NOTE: If you are late-deafened/hard-of-hearing and still learning American Sign Language (ASL), please remember this event will immerse you into the culture and language which may speed up the learning process. Everyone is welcome to join us. Hope to see you all there!

Join Deaf artist Adriana for a fun, creative in-person art class! Learn how to draw an eye, explore expressionism through color, and create art “all through a DEAF lens.” 🖍️👁️🌈

The goal is to create a welcoming space for self-expression, relaxation, and connection through art.
