⭐️Lifesaving Actions Recognized ⭐️

This week, Detentions Deputy Misty Miller was awarded the Lifesaving Medal during the California EMS Awards Ceremony in Anaheim for her heroic actions on May 6, 2024.

While driving to work with her husband, Detentions Deputy Brad Miller, the two came upon a serious traffic collision on Zerker Road. Without hesitation, they stopped and began providing lifesaving aid. Deputies Brenna Richards and Trevor Thompson also arrived to assist.

Using a tourniquet provided by Deputy Thompson, Misty crawled into one of the vehicles and applied it to a victim’s heavily bleeding leg. She and Brad stayed with the victim until Kern County Fire arrived and extricated her from the vehicle.

Because of the quick, selfless actions of all four deputies, the victim survived. The other driver was later arrested for DUI.

We are incredibly proud of Misty, Brad, Brenna, and Trevor for going above and beyond the call of duty. 💙👏
