There are many reasons someone may stay in an abusive relationship. These are just a few.

At the Kern County Family Justice Center, we never pressure anyone to leave an abusive partner. That decision belongs to them. What we can do is provide education, resources, and support to help increase safety.

Everyone deserves compassion, not judgment. 💜

☀️ Domestic violence incidents in the United States tend to rise by about 12% during the summer months compared to other seasons.

📈 Here in Kern County, the increase is even more alarming. In 2025, there were 48% more reported domestic violence incidents in August than in December.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community impacted by violence. 💜✨ If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, free resources are available to help you stay safe, create a plan, or leave an abusive relationship if you choose to do so.

🏢 Visit a center at 1300 18th Street in Bakersfield or inside the Lamont Courthouse. Walk-ins are available Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm. For transportation assistance, please call 661-868-5950.

We’ll be back in Frazier Park for another One-Day Information Booth and Intake Station! 💜✨

The Kern County Family Justice Center provides services to survivors and victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault including restraining order assistance, safety planning assistance, and counseling. While our centers are located in Bakersfield and Lamont, we offer these one-day stations once a month in order to make services more accessible to the residents in the mountain communities. ⛰️

Whether you’d like to learn more information or begin services, we encourage you to stop by.

📲 For more information, please contact the South Kern County Family Justice Center at 661-868-5820.
