The Kern County Veterans Service Department is looking for both veterans and employers interested in participating in the Kern Patriot Partnership (KPP). The KPP, which was created through a partnership between the Kern County
Veterans Service Department and Chevron, provides an online portal allowing local veterans to match skills and knowledge acquired during their military service with high qua
lity Kern County
employers looking for dedicated and reliable employees.
“We have some outstanding businesses involved with the Kern Patriot Partnership, but we are
always looking for more, said Dick Taylor, Kern County Veterans Service Department director.
“While the program doesn’t guarantee veterans a job, participating employers do agree to give
veterans a first look when they are preparing to fill positions.”
Veterans participating in the KPP receive assistance in preparing an effective resume, dressing for
success, interview skills, and follow up. We encourage veterans seeking employment and employers interested in joining the KPP to visit www.kernpatriot.org, e-mail [email protected] or contact the Kern County Veterans Service Department at 661-868-7300.
“Across America, employers are discovering the value of hiring veterans who possess the training,
leadership skills, and strong work ethic they require,” Taylor said. “Pledging support to veterans is one way to express heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices they made to protect our freedom. First you thank a veteran, then you hire one.”
First announced at the State of the County Address in 2015, the Kern Patriot Partnership was
created in collaboration with Chevron. Businesses cite the strengths of veterans as very appealing to
them when seeking employees. Some of those strengths include a strong work ethic, a sense of duty, working well as a team, demonstrating self-confidence, and having the ability to follow through on assignments, even under difficult or stressful circumstances.
