Dear Rosedale Family-

Last night, there was a shooting that resulted in a homicide at the Independence vs. Centennial football game. It is believed that some of our students were in attendance and some may have been caught up in a lockdown that placed them in classrooms or other secure locations. Others may have seen the victim as they exited the stadium.

This event is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school community, especially our students. Our school has a Crisis Intervention Team to help with the needs of students, parents, and school personnel at difficult times such as these. We will have staff prepared to provide support when school resumes on Monday morning. We have enclosed some information that may be useful to you.

We sent a letter similar to this to all of our families. In this letter, we asked parents to reach out to their child’s teacher or the school office if their child needs support. Your site principal will communicate with you so you will know where you should send students for support specific to your school site.

We are incredibly saddened by such a tragedy to our community and will make every effort to support our students and staff. We know that this event may impact you. I have linked information about our employee assistance program below.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with everyone involved in this tragic event.
