As you celebrate, remember that only Safe and Sane fireworks are legal in Bakersfield. Safe and Sane fireworks may be used on July 2, 3, and 4 from 9 a.m. until midnight.

Please celebrate responsibly, keep children supervised, have water nearby, and help us keep Bakersfield safe.

Bakersfield Fire Department crews train year-round to stay ready for all types of emergencies.

This rescue drill gave our firefighters the opportunity to practice the skills, teamwork, and decision-making needed when lives are on the line.

We train hard because seconds matter. We train like lives depend on it, because one day, they may.

Bakersfield Fire Department crews responded to a two-alarm fire on Ni**od Court this afternoon.

During the incident, BFD crews rescued a small cat from the home. After receiving oxygen therapy from firefighters, the cat appeared to be doing much better.

Great work by all responding crews.

The Bakersfield Fire Department is aware of a situation in downtown Bakersfield involving a
potential bomb threat.
Public safety is our highest priority, and we are working closely with the Bakersfield Police
Department to provide support.

Yesterday at approximately 9:30 a.m., Bakersfield Fire Department crews responded to a HazMat Level 1 oil spill incident near Stockdale Hwy and Allen Rd.
BFD’s Type 1 HazMat Team quickly contained the spill, protected nearby storm drains, and worked alongside the City of Bakersfield Streets Department to safely mitigate the incident and reopen the roadway.
