Earlier today, a crew of five firefighters from UFA responded on the ladder to assist at a reported fire in Penn Wynne’s local on Greywall Lane. Upon arrival, Ladder 28 staged and stood by in the manpower pool for additional assignments as needed before assisting Engine 25 with packing up supply line.

Great teamwork and cooperation by all companies on scene.

Yesterday, Station 28 responded to two separate vehicle accident calls. On the first incident, Engine 28 acted as a protective blocker for first responders working on scene while also assisting with traffic control to help ensure the safety of everyone involved. During the second call upon arrival it was determined that luckily no fire services were needed.

Station 28 is always looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team—if you’re interested, please feel free to stop by on Monday nights at 6:30pm to learn more!

Last night, members at Station 28 put in valuable training time running through a high-rise fire operations scenario.

Apartment pack training is critical for our district. With the number of high-rise and multi-unit residential buildings in our local, our firefighters must be ready to deploy hose in stairwells and apartments where conventional hose stretches aren't practical, and to utilize high-rise firefighting systems like standpipes and sprinklers. These drills help build the muscle memory, coordination, and efficiency needed when seconds matter most.

We’re always looking to grow our ranks. If you’re interested in serving your community and becoming part of Station 28, stop by at 6:30, before our Monday night drills, to learn more about what we do and how to get involved.

Before noon today, Station 28 responded to two calls for service. The first was an automatic fire alarm. Shortly after clearing that incident, crews were dispatched to a CO alarm at The Pump House on Righters Ferry Road.

Upon arrival to the second incident, Station 28 personnel were advised by staff of an active CO alarm. Crews confirmed the alarm and performed a sweep of the structure to confirm all occupants had safely evacuated.

Belmont Hills Station 22 arrived on scene and assisted Station 28 with ventilation operations and a full assessment of the property along with the Fire Marshals. Crews worked together to monitor conditions until carbon monoxide levels returned to zero.

Strong teamwork and a coordinated response helped ensure the situation was brought under control safely and efficiently.

Tonight, the Union Fire Association had the opportunity to conduct a walkthrough of a new building nearing completion. These walkthroughs allow our firefighters to familiarize themselves with critical features such as alarm panel locations, sprinkler systems, access points, and potential hazards.

Regular walkthroughs, conducted in coordination with the Lower Merion Fire Department Fire Marshals, help ensure our members stay prepared and up to date. This training is essential so that, in the event of an emergency, we can respond quickly, safely, and effectively.
