IMPORTANT EVENT UPDATE 🚨

Due to the anticipated effects of the nor’easter impacting our region, the 28th Annual Walter E. Brandon 5K Walk/Run & Wellness Event scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, has been canceled.

The safety of our participants, sickle cell community, volunteers, vendors, partners, and staff remains our top priority.

Registered participants will receive an email directly from our registration platform with additional information regarding their registration.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Roy Neil Gay, a dedicated physician whose compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment touched the lives of countless individuals living with sickle cell disease.

On behalf of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America – Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Gay's family, friends, colleagues, and the many patients whose lives he impacted.

A Celebration of Life gathering is being planned for September during Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Additional details will be shared as they become available.

We are grateful for Dr. Gay's legacy of service, advocacy, and compassionate care. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. ❤️
