LARGE POLICE PRESENCE SUNDAY MORNING IN THE 200 BLOCK OF EISENHOWER

Baldwin City, KS —

Sunday morning, April 26th, the Baldwin City Police Department arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail a 34-year-old Baldwin City woman for domestic criminal damage and aggravated assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. The arrest resulted from an incident that occurred at approximately 9:03am Sunday morning.

An officer responded to a call regarding domestic violence against a family member in the 200 block of Eisenhower Street and made contact with the individual. The suspect threw a large rock at the responding officer and then barricaded herself inside the residence.

Law Enforcement officers from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Baldwin City Police Department forced entry into the residence and arrested the suspect, who has been identified as Jacqueline Smith.

An affidavit is being submitted to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.

No further information on this incident will be released from the Baldwin City Police Department at this time.

Lyon County Man Arrested on Suspicion of R**e, Sexual Battery

Baldwin City, KS —
Today the Baldwin City Police Department arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail a 44-year-old Lyon County man on suspicion of committing two counts of r**e and one count of aggravated sexual battery. The arrest is the result of an investigation into an alleged incident that occurred last week, during a massage therapy appointment at Om Grown Yoga, a business located in Baldwin City.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Aaron Borger of Hartford, Kansas. Borger works as a part-time massage therapist at Om Grown Yoga and out of a chiropractor’s office in Grandview, Missouri.

Anyone who believes they may have had inappropriate contact with Mr. Borger, whether in Baldwin City or any other location, may contact Detective Vanessa Garza, at 785-594-3850 or via email at [email protected]. The investigation is ongoing.

The Baldwin City Police Department thanks the owners of Om Grown Yoga, who assisted the investigation from the onset. The main focus of both the business and the Police Department is the well-being of the victim and the identification of any potential additional victims.

An affidavit is being submitted to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for charging consideration. The Baldwin City Police Department has been in close communication with the District Attorney’s Office throughout the investigation and any request for comment on this case will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office after a formal charging decision is made.

No further information on this case will be released from the Baldwin City Police Department at this time.

This employee should possess excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

This position works 12-hour shifts with no bid system and every other weekend off.
