Dear Baldwin Families,

As we head into the long weekend, I want to express my appreciation to all of our amazing Baldwin families. We have enjoyed a wonderful start to the school year. This week, our activities have started up, allowing our students to share their talents on the stage and in competition. It is great to be a Bulldog!

September is National Library Card Month. If you don’t currently have a library card, I would encourage you to stop by the Baldwin City Ks. Public Library and get one! If you already have a library card, use this opportunity to renew your library card. Those who stop by will have their names entered into a drawing later this month to receive two movie passes and two popcorn-and-drink combo deals. Reading is a great way to develop your mind, grow your vocabulary, and replace screen time with something productive. As I’ve said before, reading just 20 minutes a day can expose a person to 1.8 million words in a year!

We are so very thankful for our community partners and businesses for all that they do to support our students, athletes, and staff. With this in mind, Coach Scoby and Coach Bachura are excited to announce that the 2026-2027 Bulldog Card is here! The BHS baseball and softball teams have officially kicked off their Fall fundraiser and look forward to your support. Cards cost $10 and provide numerous deals/discounts for a variety of local businesses. If you would like to purchase a card, please contact a player or email Chad Scoby, head softball coach, at [email protected]. Cards are also available for purchase through the high school office. Payment options include: cash or check (payable to: BHS Softball/Baseball). Go Bulldogs!!

Each year, we share with you the importance of daily attendance. Our teachers work very hard to make sure that our lessons are engaging for students, have relevance for their future, and challenge them to accomplish their goals. Thank you so much for your continued support in this work. We completely support your family’s decision to keep your student home when they are sick. To help you plan your vacations this year, I've included the vacation planner we shared earlier this summer.

In closing, I want to wish all of our families a wonderful Labor Day weekend. It is my hope that you can find time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with your family and friends. Thank you so much for your support and for making Baldwin a great place to raise a family.

Respectfully,

Mark Dodge
