This is a video of the usually tame Chattahoochee River. This recent rainfall is nothing compared to the events which Foothills Land Design has to use to design pipes, storm drain structures, and ponds. The force of water is always underestimated.

For industrial projects it is important to have an adequate area for the tractor trailers. Otherwise you will have issues as shown in these pictures:. Broken curb, storm drain tops, and fire hydrants.

Our projects give us the opportunity to work closely with various municipal governments in Georgia. I hear many of our local clients become frustrated with Habersham and White County regulations and officials. We can attest that these local requirements and staff are much easier than other municipalities. Oh, the stories we could tell.

Here are pictures from the most challenging project we have faced. This is a hotel in the Vinings area, near to the new Sun Trust Park. The property has two GA Power easements, Colonial Gas Pipeline easement, rock, limited sight distance for the entrance, 40' of elevation difference, two floors of underground parking, fiber optic lines, and old stormwater pond we had to place underground, and sewer connection across Paces Ferry Road. We had to place a stormwater vault inside the hotel which will catch the rain from the roof. It sure will have a beautiful view though. From every floor, you will see the downtown skyline.

Construction has finally started on the Georgia Mountain Coaster in Helen! The path for the entire track has been cleared and you can't even tell. All you can see is the pathway for the lift hill. Mr. Terry Sims is making sure this is a beautiful ride through the trees. Fun project and I want to be the second one to ride it!

The grading for the Habersham Industrial Park is finally happening! Thank you to the Habersham Industrial Development Authority for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this. It is more than another project for me but a personal investment in our County's future. We don't want to see our children need to move away to find high-skilled jobs.

Although the fast food places are nationally known, many are owned by local people who give back to this community. An example of this is the Cornelia Burger King and we enjoyed playing a small part in their renovation. The shopping center owners would not allow the back entrance to be moved to the side. So we shifted the back entrance to give a little more room in the drive-thru area.

We were given a preliminary layout for a subdivision and a road goes right through this tree. Looks like we will be moving the road or designing a large traffic circle!

On many projects we are asked to "fit 10 pounds to stuff in a 5 pound bag". At Valhalla, the new hotel at Innsbruck, I still can't believe we squeezed in a 4-story hotel at old clubhouse location. Thanks to Kent Cantrell for helping me with utility questions.
