Village of Baldwin CHLORINATION OF WATER update: chlorination was ended on Wednesday, August 26th. The taste of your water may not return to normal until this coming weekend, as the chlorine needs to work through the water supply. Chlorination is needed usually during street projects etc. as water mains get agitated. Testing is done constantly during this time, and all regulated times throughout the year.
We hope your water is tasting great by the weekend! The Village Public Works Department works hard to maintain a great tasting water supply in the Village.

Work Completed This Week:

Poured sidewalks on 8th ave (South of Main)
Poured concrete driveway approaches on Meadow Ln
Installed sanitary and water services to lots on 8th, (north of Main)
Finished storm sewer work on 5th/Elm
Prepped Community Food Pantry parking lot for paving
Began road building on 8th, (north of Main)


Next Week:



Pour curb and gutter on 8th ave (north of Main)
Pour sidewalks on 8th ave (north of Main) and down alley (north of Main - between 8th and 9th)
Finish road building on 8th, (north of Main)


Following Week:



Paving of 8th ave (north of Main), village parking lot, food pantry parking lot. Also planning to do a second layer of asphalt on Meadow Ln

PUBLIC NOTICE
VACANCY ON VILLAGE BOARD
The Village of Baldwin has one trustee seat open due to a resignation. The public is invited to indicate interest in being appointed to this position by filling out an application/form of interest form.
REQUIREMENTS – Must be of legal voting age (18), live within the Village of Baldwin and be able to attend regular board meetings held the second Wednesday of every month and attend various committee meetings through the year.
TERM OF OFFICE – 2-year term (Sept. 9, 2026 – April , 2028)
HOW TO APPLY/SHOW INTEREST – All interested qualified residents are invited to fill out an application/interest form, which can be found at the village administrative office (400 Cedar St) or online at www.villageofbaldwin.com.
PROCESS FOR APPOINTMENT – The Village Board has the right and privilege to appoint a new board member. All interested residents should plan on attending the September 9th, 2026 Regular Board Meeting (6:00pm). Each candidate will introduce themselves to the board and answer any questions they might have. The board will then vote on who to appoint. An Oath of Office and appointment will take place immediately.
DEADLINE – Submissions of interest are due in the Administrative Office, 400 Cedar St, Baldwin by September 9th, 2026 at 4:30pm. Submissions can be emailed to [email protected], dropped off in person or placed in the drop box outside the Municipal Building.

ATTENTION VILLAGE RESIDENTS: The Public Works Department will be starting a precautionary chlorination process today as they had a water bacteria sample come back positive. We will keep you posted on the course of this process.
The type of bacteria being dealt with is Coliform bacteria, a large group of rod-shaped, Gram-negative microorganisms found naturally in soil, plants, and the digestive tracts of warm-blooded animals. While most strains are harmless, they serve as crucial "indicator organisms" to signal potential pathogen contamination in drinking water and food supplies.
The Public Works department is implementing a precautionary chlorination process at this time, and we will notify the public here and on our webpage when the process is complete. Should this positive sample turn into a need for immediate action, a phone alert will be put into place. Many municipalities chlorinate on a regular basis, but the Village of Baldwin chooses to do so on an as-needed basis, keeping your water tasting as good as can be.

HELP WANTED — Compost Site (dump) Operator -part time.
Public Works Department-village of Baldwin
Duties include overseeing the site during hours of operation (including opening and closing).
Starting pay is $17.00 - $18.00 an hour. Part-time. Village residents with items to be left at site,
buming wood pile and maintaining the site. Must be 18 years of age or older. Operator reports
