Baldwyn Police Department

The Baldwyn Police Department is asking for the public's assistance regarding a runaway juvenile from Booneville who is currently in the Baldwyn area.

The juvenile is described as a light Skinned male with a slim build. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a gray hoodie, and no shoes.

The juvenile has broken into homes and vehicles and has also attempted to break into additional vehicles while in the Baldwyn area.

Over the past several days, the Baldwyn Police Department has acted on every tip received from the public and will continue to diligently investigate all information provided until the juvenile is located.

We appreciate the community's continued assistance and encourage anyone with information to please contact the Baldwyn Police Department .

Residents are urged to ensure that all homes, vehicles, garages, and other property remain locked and secured at all times.

If you see anyone matching this description or have information regarding the juvenile's whereabouts, please contact the Baldwyn Police Department immediately.

🚨 BALDWYN POLICE DEPARTMENT: TRAFFIC SAFETY ALERT 🚨
As we welcome new neighbors to our area and prepare for the upcoming school year to begin , Chief Roy Ragin, Assistant Chief Xavier Cousins, and the entire Baldwyn Police Department will be launching strict traffic patrols and enforcement .

Expect to see an increased police presence on all major roadways and city streets. Officers will be strictly monitoring speeds to ensure the safety of everyone on our roads.

🐴 Buggy Safety & Our New Neighbors
• Equal Rights: A new Amish community has moved into our local area. By Mississippi state law, horse-drawn carriages have the exact same rights to the roadway as motor vehicles.
• Slow Down: Buggies travel at low speeds. Please slow down immediately when you see one ahead.
• Pass Safely: Only pass a carriage when you have a clear, safe visibility window. Never tail or honk your horn, as this can spook the horses and cause a severe crash.

🚌 Back-to-School & Student Safety
• School Zones: School zone speed limits will be strictly enforced starting next week .
• Zero Tolerance: Passing a stopped school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
• Full Penalties: Violators could face citations enforced to the full extent of the law as the officer deems necessary.
Please help us protect our youth and students as they are dropped off by parents and school bus transportation. Let's work together to keep Baldwyn safe for everyone as we prepare for the Back to School time.

The last 8 weeks the Baldwyn Police Dept worked along side North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, Alcohol Beverage Control, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol for a zero tolerance saturation detail within the city limits of Baldwyn. During the detail over 40 charges were filed ranging from felony narcotics, DUIs, juveniles with vapes, warrants served, suspended license, seat belt violations, no insurance and other misdemeanor charges. The goal for the detail is to show a proactive police presence to keep the community safe and prevent any further crime within the city. Chief Roy Ragin and the Baldwyn Police Department will continue these efforts to keep residents and visitors safe within our city.

⚠️FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE⚠️

On May 26, 2026,the Baldwyn Police Department was dispatched to a possible house fire at 503 South Second Street in Baldwyn. Upon officers’ arrival, they observed heavy smoke coming from the top of the residence.
Officers immediately ensured that no one was inside the home and made contact with the male homeowner, who had been alerted by nearby neighbors and returned to the residence. After confirming the home was unoccupied, officers and the Baldwyn Fire Department noticed a power line in close proximity to the area where the smoke and fire were present. Officers then notified Prentiss County Electric Power Association, whose personnel responded to the scene.
Multiple surrounding fire agencies assisted the Baldwyn Fire Department in extinguishing the fire.
Chief Roy Ragin, Assistant Chief Cousins, and the entire Baldwyn Police Department extend their prayers and well wishes to the family as they recover from this unfortunate occurrence.

The Baldwyn Police Department announces that Detective A. Jennings was notified of a burglary at the Prentiss County Power Company during the early morning hours of May 12.
According to investigators, several items were reported stolen, including chain saws, pole saws, impact wrenches, and other equipment. Following further investigation, Detective Jennings received a tip that led officers to an abandoned home on Carnation Street, where most of the stolen property was recovered.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges and updates regarding the suspect are expected to be forthcoming.
In just two days, the Baldwyn Police Department has recovered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise and returned the property to its rightful owners after proper processing procedures were completed.

⚠️For Immediate Release⚠️

On May 13, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m.Criminal Investigator Jennings was contacted by the homeowner of 207 Cox Street in Baldwyn regarding individuals being on the property without the owner’s permission.
Chief Ragin,Asst.Chief Cousins,Detective Jennings, along with officers of the Baldwyn Police Department, responded to the residence and surrounded the home with the homeowner. During the search of the residence, officers located Joshua Grice hiding in a back closet inside the home. Detective Jennings and officers also discovered a large amount of reported stolen items inside the residence amounting to thousands of dollars worth of recovered merchandise .The Baldwyn Police Department currently had an active felony warrant for Grice at the time of this incident and was taken into custody. Additional charges are likely pending as the investigation continues.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
