Yesterday on February the 10th Balko Fire was called out to go on mutual aid to help assist with a fire that started up in the Turpin area! As we start to roll into the spring months with the high possibility of fire dangers please take extra precautions. Thank you to everyone who helps our department would not be able to run and function without all of you!

Today the memorial flag flies at the Oklahoma Fallen and Living Firefighters Memorial for Balko Fire Chief, Robert Marshall. Robert joined the Balko Volunteer Fire Department in 1981, and proudly served his community for over 40 years. He will be deeply missed by so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his fellow firefighters, the community, his family, and the many others who are grieving his loss.

Balko Fire is saddened to announce the passing of Robert Marshall, Balko Fire Department Chief (Balko 10). Robert has served Balko Fire since 1981 then becoming Chief in 1989. Robert, not living but a few blocks from the station, would often beat us all to the station to get in one of Balko Fires more well known trucks, Balko 5 (Red Dog). Balko Fire will miss Robert coming on the radio after arriving to the station and calling on the radio saying “This is ole Balko 10 here in Red Dog, we are 10-8”. Robert has been a huge asset to Balko Fire by making many improvements to our department. He had huge part in designing and getting Station 1 and 2 built while also adding multiple fire trucks to Balko Fire. Chief Marshall will be extremely missed by Balko Fire. We thank and honor him for all he has done for this department.

After a busy weekend of going on a mutual aid call to the windmill fire and a structure fire, we were able to have a beautiful day to get everything cleaned up and prepared for the week ahead. With future fire dangers ahead of us this week, we ask that you please be cautious and pay attention to what you are doing as to not cause any wildfires!
