This morning, our crews attended the annual New York State EMS Memorial Service during EMS Week. EMS agencies from across New York State gathered to honor and remember EMS providers who have passed, recognizing their dedication, sacrifice, and lasting impact on the communities they served. Today, we stand together in remembrance of those who answered the call before us.

Happy EMS Week 2026!

At Ballston Lake Emergency Squad, we’ve put together a short documentary highlighting an issue many people don’t realize:

EMS is still not universally recognized as an essential service in New York State.

Every day, EMTs and paramedics respond to emergencies, provide lifesaving care, and serve as a critical link between the public and the healthcare system — yet EMS agencies across New York continue to face significant funding, staffing, and operational challenges.

Please take a few minutes to watch and share this video to help educate the public on why EMS matters and how communities can help support the future of emergency medical services.

As prom season begins, we want every student to make it home safely.

Prom should be remembered for the laughter, photos, friends, and memories — not tragedy. Every year, impaired and distracted driving changes lives in an instant. As first responders, these are calls we never want to answer.

Before heading out to prom or after-prom parties, make a plan:
• Have a sober driver
• Use a rideshare
• Stay with friends or family
• Speak up if someone shouldn’t be driving

One decision can save a life.

Please take a moment to watch and share this important message from Ballston Lake EMS.
