Mosquito Spraying Update:

The Village contracts with the Fairfield County Health Department to provide four mosquito sprays per year to help keep our local population under control.

While our third spray was originally scheduled for mid-August, the County experienced an equipment breakdown with their sprayer. They have borrowed a replacement sprayer and confirmed that the Village of Baltimore will be sprayed on Tuesday, September 8th.

In addition, the Village has ordered an extra spraying scheduled for two weeks after the September 8th service to help ensure effective control.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Update: EPA Mandated Waterline Material Inspection

Over the past two years, the Village Water Department has been required by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) to conduct a Water Service Line Inventory for every residence in the Village. After several rounds of letters, website, and social media posts, we have 414 service lines that remain unidentified. Our Water Dept. reached out to Rural Community Assistance Program (RCAP) for assistance. RCAP has agreed to use available grant funding to identify the remaining 414 service lines (at no cost to the Village). This will entail RCAP using a Vac Truck to “dig” two, 15-inch holes in each of the 414 lawns to uncover the waterline and identify whether it is lead, galvanized, copper, etc. RCAP will be in the Village the week of August 10th. If you have not contacted the Village about your service line, you should expect RCAP to be at your residence sometime during the week of August 10th to conduct this service. We will be sending letters to each of the 414 residences needing this service. The Village will make sure that each hole is refilled with topsoil and seeded.

Please be mindful that this is an OEPA mandate that the Village is required to conduct. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Village Water System Awarded OPWC Funding

The Village of Baltimore applied for and was awarded OPWC (Ohio Public Works Commission) funds to replace waterlines on Jefferson St, Elmwood Ave, and a portion of Fairview Ave. Along with new waterlines, these streets will receive roadway repair. Residents in this area should already be noticing workers marking utility lines.

Village Sewer Maintenance & Televising Announcement :

As part of our ongoing attempts to better serve residents, Visu-Sewer will be performing sewer inspections & cleaning on E. Market St beginning Tuesday, July 7th through the remainder of the week. Visu-Sewer uses a high-pressure jet machine to clean the main sewer lines. The cleaning process can cause pressure changes in the sewer attached to your home. This should not affect most homes but in some homes that have inadequate or partially blocked drain vents, water in the traps and drains may be sucked out leaving a dry trap. It could also force the water out of the drains splashing the area around the drain. To avoid excessive splatter, close toilet lids and cover drains with a bucket or mat. After crew has left your neighborhood, run a gallon or so of water into each drain to fill your traps with water to keep any sewer odor out of your home.

Thank you and please reach out with any questions,
