🇺🇸 Yesterday, we had the honor of co-hosting a Memorial Day ceremony at Loudon Park National Cemetery alongside the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture — a meaningful gathering to pause, reflect, and pay tribute to the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our nation.

We were deeply grateful to have Dr. Sabrina Clark join us as our keynote speaker, whose words reminded us all of the weight and significance of this day.

A special thank you to our Commissioners and to the chair of our Memorial Day Planning Committee, Reverend Dr. Alethea Smith-Withers, whose leadership and dedication made this ceremony possible.

A heartfelt thank you as well to the Boy Scouts and the dedicated volunteers from Pivot Energy, who took great care in placing flags at every headstone throughout the cemetery — ensuring that no soldier was forgotten. 🪖🏳️

It was an honor to have hosted the students from The Calverton School at Baltimore National Cemetery to give eulogies at the gravesites of three Veterans. It was moving to see the research and time dedicated to sharing the untold stories of these Marine Veterans in World War II as part of National History Day.

On February 23, 1945, six U.S. Marine Corps made history by raising the American flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima, one of World War II's bloodiest engagements.

This iconic photo was captured by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal and later used as the model for the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.
