MD ESGR Patriot Award Presented in Havre de Grace

On March 11, 2026, in Havre de Grace, MD, the ESGR Patriot Award was presented to Mr. Gary Stacey, CSMS, Maryland Army National Guard. He was nominated by SGT Robert Lockitt, Maryland Army National Guard, of Dundalk, MD, who was unable to attend the presentation.

SGT Lockitt recognized Mr. Stacey for his leadership and steadfast support of his military service while advancing his civilian career. Mr. Stacey consistently demonstrated flexibility by adjusting workloads and deadlines to support military duty and fostered a workplace culture where military service is respected and valued.

Supporting those who serve 🇺🇸

Maryland Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program, proudly announces that Nathan Salaga, Vice President of Tenable, Inc., signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve.

By signing this statement, Tenable, Inc., located in Columbia, Maryland, affirmed its commitment to supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

The Statement of Support is the cornerstone of ESGR’s mission to strengthen employer support for service members and ensure they can serve their country while maintaining their civilian careers.

Ron Pitts, Western Maryland Regional Chair, presented the Statement of Support on behalf of ESGR.

Heroes don’t always wear a uniform, they support those who do.

Nathan Saiaga, Vice President of Global Technical Support, and Bill Grammer, Director of Technical Support at Tenable, Inc. in Columbia, Maryland, were recently recognized for their outstanding support of military families.

According to Stephen Bridger, spouse of U.S. Army Reserve Captain Vicky Le, both leaders have provided critical support, through flexible schedules, time off, and understanding that went above and beyond what was required.

To recognize their commitment, Bridger nominated them for a Patriot Award from the Department of War’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Western Maryland Regional Chair Ron Pitts presented the award.

This weekend, 22 Soldiers from the 581st Troop Command, Maryland Army National Guard, based in Hagerstown, took part in an annual briefing on their civilian employment and reemployment rights. Required each year, the training ensures National Guard and Reserve members understand the protections available to them through Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The session was led by Maryland ESGR Western Region Chair Ron Pitts. ESGR is a volunteer organization operating under the Department of War.

Each year National Guard and Reserve members are required by the Department of War (DoW) to undergo training to explain the services provided by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). For example, they are told about the Uniform Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act which protects their employment and reemployment rights. 77 members of the 244th Engineer’s, Hagerstown, Maryland, Maryland Army National Guard took part in this training over the weekend. ESGR is a volunteer organization under the DOW.

A Maryland ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) Patriot Award was presented to Amara Uzomah of Impact Support Services, Inc. in Lanham, MD, on January 14, 2026.

Amara was nominated by SFC Osaretin Ewere of the Maryland Army National Guard, who is currently deployed. SFC Ewere shared that Amara consistently went above and beyond to support the team and ensure their success. She always took time to listen, provide guidance, and recognize the team’s efforts. Her compassion, patience, and strong work ethic have inspired everyone around her.

On January 6, Sean Moran, President and CEO of AMI Complete Door Solutions, was recognized with a Patriot Award and participated in a Statement of Support signing in appreciation of his continued support of service members.

Mr. Moran was nominated by SSgt William Ruckman, a Maryland Army National Guard Soldier and one of AMI’s first active Guard employees. SSgt Ruckman highlighted Mr. Moran’s unwavering support as he continues serving on active duty orders as a Military Policeman.

On January 13, 2026, the MD ESGR proudly presented the Patriot Award to Gina Calvert, Director of Energy Acquisition at Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), nominated by LCDR Antonio Biondo, USNR, Manager of Gas Acquisition, in recognition of her outstanding support of LCDR Biondo while serving in the USNR.

The event also marked the signing of a Statement of Support by Baltimore Gas and Electric, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

Over the weekend, Soldiers from Co A & B, 1-175 Infantry, Maryland Army National Guard, in Dundalk, MD received ESGR training covering the services available to them and their rights under USERRA, the law that protects their civilian employment and reemployment when they serve.

The 1/175 Infantry Battalion has maintained a continuous and distinguished record of service in the defense of our Nation from its inception to the present day, and MD ESGR is proud to support the Soldiers who carry on that proud legacy.

Service members from the Maryland Army National Guard’s 29th Military Police Company in Westminster, Maryland, recently received a visit from Ron Pitts, Western Maryland Regional Chair for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Pitts spent part of the day at the Major General Henry C. Evans Readiness Center providing a comprehensive briefing on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
