Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) traveled to Southern Maryland to participate in the Patuxent River Job Fair, which brought together approximately 28 employers and vendors and 300 job seekers, including service members and their spouses.

Ron Pitts, ESGR Western Maryland Chairperson, attended the event to inform Guard and Reserve members about their employment and reemployment rights and answer employers’ questions about ESGR resources and support.

The Maryland Army National Guard Recruiting Command runs the Recruit Sustainment Program, a preparatory initiative designed to strengthen new Soldiers’ physical and mental readiness for future training.

Recently, 23 Maryland Army National Guard Soldiers participated in the program. As part of the training, Ron Pitts, Western Maryland Chair for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), discussed ESGR’s mission and its role in protecting service members’ employment and reemployment rights.

A routine follow-up visit to a Marine unit in Frederick, Maryland, quickly turned into an opportunity for the MD ESGR to support service members. At the request of 1stSgt Toniesha Gaddis, ESGR Western Maryland Chair Ron Pitts provided an impromptu USERRA briefing to Marines just before they departed for annual training.

Maryland Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) was proud to participate in the Job & Resource Fair at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Rockville. Approximately 32 organizations connected job seekers with valuable employment resources.

As a Department of Defense program, ESGR supports National Guard and Reserve Service members and their civilian employers with employment and reemployment matters under USERRA.

The Maryland Army National Guard’s Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) helps prepare future Soldiers for the demands of military service and training. As part of that mission, Ron Pitts, ESGR Western Maryland Chair, recently presented to approximately 30 recruits in Reisterstown, Maryland, sharing information about USERRA and the ESGR. Through partnerships like this, ESGR helps ensure Guard and Reserve members understand their civilian employment and reemployment rights while supporting their successful transition into military service.
