Gilbert T Barker Sr. (May 24, 1941 – April 14, 2026). Our beloved Former Commander Gil passed away peacefully from this life on April 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at his home in St. Augustine, Florida. May he rest in eternal peace.

Gil was born and raised in Baltimore where he attended St. Casimir’s School in Canton and Mount St. Joseph’s High School in Baltimore. After his service in the Marines, he became a long-term employee of the CSX Railroad and embraced the laid-back lifestyle of retirement to its fullest. He was a member of various organizations but took special pride as a member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, Catholic War Veterans, Traffic Club of NY, and Charlies Corner Club. Also a loyal member of the Catholic Archdiocese Holy Name Society.

Gil is survived by his three children: Angela (Jim) Anderson, Gil (Jen) Garczynski Jr., and Dan (Michelle) Barker, and was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Andrew Anderson, Gil Garczynski III, Paige Garczynski, Sydney (Jorge) Silva, one great grandchild: Issa Silva, and his brother George (JoAnne) Barker and many nieces and nephews. Gil was preceded in death by his wife Angie (nee Bocianowski), his parents, parents-in-law, brother-in-law Paul (Dee) Bocianowski, and his sister Sandra (Dave) Crowe.

Family, friends, and associates will fondly remember Gil for his passion for life. Gil’s parting message was “goodbye to all, the train has left the station, see you on the other side - maybe. Semper Fi.”

Family and friends are invited to the graveside memorial service on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Stanislaus Cemetery Mausoleum, 6515 Boston Street, Baltimore, MD 21224. In lieu of any flowers, the family would appreciate a memorial contribution to your favorite charity.

We remember the lives lost and the heroes who served at Pearl Harbor, a historic day that changed the course of history but never faltered the American spirit. Their heroism and sacrifice continue to personify the resolve of our nation and the defense of liberty globally. God Bless America. 🇺🇸

Keep your thoughts and prayers for Andrew Wolf and his family, Andrew Wolf needs inspiration and positivity.

West Virginia National Guardsman Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains in critical condition after being shot in Washington, D.C.

His family and state leaders say he is “hanging on” and asking the nation to pray.

Rep. Riley Moore said Wolfe comes from a devoted family of public servants—his father is a deputy sheriff—and described Andrew as a strong fighter.

"What they want here is for everybody to continue to pray. I believe in the power of prayer and I can promise you his parents believe in the power of prayer. . . . Please keep praying." Moore added.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey also said Wolfe’s condition is “very serious,” urging people across the U.S. and around the world to join in prayer.

-------------------------

Heavenly Father, we lift up Andrew Wolfe to You today. Lord, You see his pain, his struggle, and every breath he fights to take. We ask for Your healing power to surround him, strengthen his body, and restore his life.

Lord, be with his parents, his family, and all who love him—fill their hearts with Your peace, comfort, and hope. Give wisdom to the medical team and steady their hands.

Lord, Andrew has served his community and his nation with courage. Now we ask that You fight for him. Let Your presence be near, Your mercy be great, and Your healing be complete.

In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏🙏🙏

Here's a hopeful update on Andrew Wolfe, a 24-year-old soldier who underwent surgery after being shot in DC yesterday. His medical team is closely monitoring his recovery, allowing his brain to heal and reducing swelling. While the next 24 to 48 hours are critical, Andrew is stable and alive. His family has been able to visit him in the ICU, where he's resting and receiving care. Let's join together in sending thoughts and prayers for Andrew's full recovery, as well as for the family of Sarah Beckstrom, a fellow soldier who sadly passed away today. May Andrew continue to heal and may Sarah's memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Let's hold US Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and her family in our thoughts tonight. May Sara's legacy inspire us to live with purpose and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. Saint Michael, protector of those who run toward danger - stand watch over Sarah, her family, and all who still put on the uniform. 🙏🏻

‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.’ — Matthew 5:9

President Donald Trump said Thursday evening that U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, one of the two West Virginia National Guard members wounded in a "targeted shooting" near the White House on Wednesday, has died.

🦃🍁 Thanksgiving Reflections: Honoring American Gold Star Mothers 🍁🦃
As we enter the holiday season, many families look forward to gathering around the table—sharing stories, laughter, and traditions. But for American Gold Star Mothers approaching their centennial in 2028, the holidays also bring a profound reminder of the empty chair where a beloved son or daughter should be.

This Thanksgiving, we pause to honor the mothers who feel that void so deeply. Their courage in the face of unimaginable loss, their continued service to others, and their enduring love for their fallen heroes remind others of the true meaning of gratitude.
🍂 Wishing all Gold Star Mothers moments of peace, comfort, and warm memories this Thanksgiving. 🍂
