I had the honor of presenting a congratulatory resolution to Mr. Joe Nathan Page, an over-60-year resident of the 4th District, in the Woodbourne-McCabe Neighborhood.

He is a beloved member of our community and continues to advocate for his neighbors. I am so grateful for community leaders like Mr. Page.

May Mr. Page be a shining example to all of us of what service and dedication look like. And as he stated in his comments to me after receiving the award, "May we all serve from the heart. "

Last week, I recorded this video in response to the judge's decision to allow the Inspector General’s case seeking access to City records to move forward — and that matters because our Inspector General can’t effectively investigate waste, fraud, and abuse without access to the information needed to follow the facts.

That’s why I introduced legislation earlier this year to strengthen the Inspector General’s ability to obtain the records necessary to do the job.

The case isn’t over, but I’ll continue working to ensure Baltimore has an independent watchdog with the tools and access needed to hold government accountable.

Over the past three days, I’ve had the privilege of riding along with Baltimore Police Department officers across our city.

First, hats off to the many officers who show up every day and do their best to keep Baltimore safe. I appreciate their service, commitment, and the work they do in our communities.

As Chair of the Public Safety Committee, I wanted to see firsthand what officers experience on the job—from responding to calls and engaging with residents to addressing the day-to-day public safety challenges facing our neighborhoods.

These ride-alongs gave me an opportunity to listen, ask questions, and better understand what is working, where the challenges are, and what support is needed to improve public safety across Baltimore.

What I learned over these three days will help inform the questions I ask, the policies we consider, and the work we do moving forward.

Thank you again to the officers who welcomed me and, most importantly, thank you for your service to our city.

Yesterday, I attended the Bolton Hill Community Association (BHCA) Annual Cookout. While there, I was pleased to see Commissioner Worley and Major Natalie Preston of the Baltimore Police Department, Senator Antonio Hayes, and the Police Chief of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Great event, great food, and great community servants and leaders. Glad to attend.

Friday’s court decision was an important step toward protecting the independence of Baltimore’s Office of Inspector General and ensuring it has the tools necessary to serve Baltimore taxpayers.

The Inspector General must be able to follow the facts wherever they lead. I remain committed to strengthening those protections and advancing legislation that provides greater clarity, accountability, and independence.

Joe Nathan Page has lived in his Northeast Baltimore home for over 60 years. He’s one of at least 129,000 Baltimoreans who have lived in their homes for 20 or more years.

National Night Out is one of my favorite evenings of the year because it brings neighbors, community organizations, and public safety partners together to strengthen the relationships that make our neighborhoods safer and stronger.

It was great to stop by celebrations with Governor Wes Moore and the Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Govans Boundary, Chinquapin Park Association, and Wilson Park.

Thank you to Pastor Biscoe, Councilman Ryan Dorsey, my Alpha brother—Councilman Jermaine Jones, Mr. Jeff, the new president of the Chinquapin Park Association, Keisha Blake and the AM ME team, and everyone who helped make these events possible.

Thank you to every resident, volunteer, and community leader who came out to celebrate. I appreciate the opportunity to connect with so many neighbors and look forward to continuing the work together.

Yesterday, I released a statement in response to BGE's position that whether shareholders should absorb higher conduit costs instead of passing them on to customers is "a separate conversation."

Baltimore families are already paying enough. If BGE is finally being required to pay a fair price to use infrastructure owned by the people of Baltimore, the first answer shouldn't be higher utility bills.
