Godspeed to our DC Police Union family. May the Lord give Brother Bennetts family and coworkers strength.

The DC Police Union joins in mourning the tragic line-of-duty loss of Officer Terry Bennett.

Officer Bennett, an eight-year member of the Metropolitan Police Department, lost his life on December 23, 2025, after being struck by a vehicle while rendering assistance to a stranded motorist on I-695. His commitment to service and to the residents of the District defined his career and reflected the very best of this profession.

We offer our sincere condolences to Officer Bennett’s family, friends, and fellow officers. The sacrifice he made in the service of others will not be forgotten, and his dedication to duty will forever be remembered by the law enforcement community.

May he rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find strength in the honor of his service.

Amid parades, shared meals, and family gatherings, thousands of officers are still out there, watching over neighborhoods, helping strangers, and keeping our communities safe.
Today and every day, we honor the men and women in blue and the families who miss them at the table for the sacrifices they make so we can celebrate safely. We are grateful for those who serve and for those who wait for them to come home.

Three heroes lost. Two fighting for their lives. Today in North Codorus Township, Pennsylvania, our law enforcement family was brutally attacked while serving and protecting. We grieve, we stand with the families, and we demand justice. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
