The UMBC Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Police Department includes sworn police officers, security staff, communications specialists, and student aides. UMBC Police officers respond to criminal offenses, service requests, and other safety issues on campus.

Chemical Spill - All clear :: The all clear has been given for the incident at the Chemistry building. The spill was the result of an accidental mishap during a routine research exercise. There were no injuries. The 4th floor of Chemistry remains off-limits until cleanup is complete. Occupants may reenter the building at this time.

Chemical Spill :: A chemical spill occurred in the Chemistry building this morning. The building has been evacuated and responders have the incident contained. There is no threat to the UMBC community. Continue to avoid the area around this building until UMBC police provide the all-clear.
