YouthWorks Baltimore

YouthWorks Baltimore YouthWorks is Baltimore City’s summer jobs program for residents between the ages of 14 and 21.

Each year through YouthWorks, the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) connects thousands of teens and young adults to meaningful summer work experiences throughout the city. Participants work in a wide variety of industries, including health care and social assistance, hospitality/tourism, finance, construction, the arts, and environmental/green jobs.

Not every summer job looks the same. ✈️

As part of their experience, participants with the Sandler Fund Summer Debate Camp traveled to the University of Kansas (by plane!) to sharpen their debate skills before returning to Baltimore for an intensive summer workshop.

The starter camp gave YouthWorkers the opportunity to strengthen their research, critical thinking, public speaking, and argument development skills, ensuring they were prepared to contribute at an advanced level throughout the summer.

YouthWorks is about more than a paycheck. It's about gaining real-world experiences, building confidence, and developing skills that last long after the summer ends. We're so happy this group got to have such a unique experience in their time with us this summer!

The Youth Advisory Council stepped into the action at Camden Yards for the Orioles vs. Red Sox game! ⚾️

Members captured photos and videos while interviewing YouthWorks staff, Orioles employees, and game day guests. Interviewees tested their Baltimore knowledge with trivia questions and shared their favorite Baltimore cuisine, creating engaging content that celebrates our city and its community.

The Youth Advisory Council serves as the voice of YouthWorks through a leadership development program featuring Money Mondays, Worksite Wednesdays, and Bright Future Fridays. To learn more and watch their content, visit the YouthWorks Baltimore YouTube channel.
