Southeast CDC

Southeast CDC The Southeast CDC develops and implements initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods in Southeast and East Baltimore.

Since then, the SECDC has focused on commercial projects in the Highlandtown community. Major properties were successfully redeveloped as a youth center, a performing arts center, a public library, and a private residence. In most of these cases the organization was not the ultimate developer, but was able to facilitate the accomplishment of community priorities through funding and site control. T

he SECDC also became one of the largest HUD-certified housing counseling agencies in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The SECDC offers a full-service housing counseling service that includes financial counseling, first-time homebuyers counseling, foreclosure prevention counseling, and all other aspects of owning a home or preserving a home. After 2000, the CDC also began to operate a number of community revitalization programs in the greater Highlandtown area. It sought and obtained designations through the State Arts and Entertainment District, Baltimore City Main Streets, and Healthy Neighborhoods, Inc.

Thanks to funding from the Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Recovery Programs [], we're helping Baltimore homeowners make critical repairs that improve safety, comfort, and quality of life.

In the Ellwood Park neighborhood, we transformed a resident's living room. The project included updating outdated electrical wiring to meet code requirements, installing a brand-new ceiling, and refreshing the space with a fresh coat of paint.

Highlandtown Community Association announced their summer cleanup series - starting this Sunday!

The Highlandtown Community Association was recently awarded a Clean Community Challenge grant, and we are using the funds to give our local blocks a summer glow up.

We are officially kicking off our Highlandtown Trash Pickup: Summer Series, and the first event is next weekend! Whether you can spare 20 minutes or the full two hours, every bit of help makes a massive difference for our community.

When: Sunday, June 14th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

* On Sunday morning, just walk over to the supply and refreshment hub closest to you:
* S. Highland Ave. & Leverton Ave.

There's a brand new obsession for knitters, weavers, and fiber crafters: The Local Stitch just opened in Fells Point! Stop in Wed-Sat to check out their gorgeous yarn and embroidery thread (they even botanically hand dye their own!), notions and supplies for weaving and needle art. They offer workshops that include fabric dying, clothes mending and embellishment, plus various skill-building and project-based sessions. We're already hooked! (It's crochet humor, get it?)
