Earl's Place - Cornerstone Community Housing

Earl's Place - Cornerstone Community Housing Cornerstone Community Housing has a two-fold mission. CCH was the vision of Rev. Prospect Place is located in Baltimore County. It opened in November 2015.

We are dedicated to helping men experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives and to changing attitudes toward homelessness through outreach and education. Cornerstone Community Housing:

Providing hope, help and home to men experiencing homelessness as we work to address needs in our community. Who We Are

Cornerstone Community Housing (CCH) is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated i

n 1993. Eugene Bartell and volunteers at The Supper Club, a feeding program at First United Evangelical UCC and was inspired by Earl Johnson, a guest at The Supper Club. Earl and other guests put a face on “homeless” and raised awareness of the need for food and shelter. Realizing a need to do more than just feed people, Earl’s Place, a transitional housing program was opened in December 1997. Earl did not live to see the results of his inspiration, but his memory lives on through the many men who are helped. Earl’s Place is located in Baltimore City and provides transitional housing and supportive services to 17 men at a time. Annually 30-35 men are provided housing and support to work on their goals

Our second project, Prospect Place, opened in November 2015. Using a Housing First model we provide permanent supportive housing to twelve men who were chronically homeless. Mission Statement

We are dedicated to helping men experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives and to changing attitudes toward homelessness through outreach and education.

𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒍'𝒔 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
is a transitional housing project in Baltimore City. Our namesake, Earl Johnson was a guest and volunteer at the Supper Club soup kitchen until his death. Earl’s Place provides seventeen men with a stable address, and a place to receive mail and phone calls. Perhaps most importantly, Earl’s Place is a place to call home. Concerns such as having a clean, safe place to sleep, shower and keep their belongings are alleviated. The Case Manager works with the men to develop both short and long-term goals and locate community services including health care, education, job training and permanent housing. The men may remain in the program for up to two years. On average, 70 percent or more maintain stable housing.

𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆
is a permanent supportive housing project in Baltimore County. Located in the Rosedale area of Baltimore County, Prospect Place houses twelve men who have a disability and were chronically homeless at entrance. Each resident has his own studio apartment. Like Earl’s Place, Prospect place provides support services, but there is not a time limit on the length of stay.

At last year’s program, Joe shared a powerful poem about his journey in recovery. His words remind us why the work at Earl’s Place matters so deeply — offering dignity, housing, and hope to those rebuilding their lives.

You’ll hear more inspiring stories like Joe’s at this year’s Annual Dinner & Auction, just one month away! Join us as we celebrate resilience and support the mission of Earl’s Place.

Our Story

Earl's Place is a transitional housing program in Baltimore City providing long-term (up to two years) of housing and supportive services to seventeen men at a time. The men work with a case manager to locate resources and ultimately permanent housing. The program is operated out of two row houses that were combined to develop a building with office space and living areas for seventeen men. The house is also shared with Sophie, our resident cat.
