The Office of Sustainability develops and advocates for programs, policies and actions by government, citizens, businesses, and institutions that improve the long-term environmental, social, and economic viability of Baltimore City. In addition to overseeing and tracking the implementation of the Baltimore Sustainability Plan, the Office integrates sustainability into City government operations and develops partnerships with groups performing related work.

Stop by to pick up FREE mulch, trees, and seeds and learn about stormwater fee credits, recycling, composting classes, and other resources to help you green your home and community. This is a great opportunity to make a positive impact while connecting with neighbors and learning more about sustainability efforts in Baltimore.

Join Patterson Park Audubon Center on Saturday, October 26th from 9AM - noon on the 1300 block of Carroll St for a wonderful day of planting and community fun! Trees, shrubs, and perennials will be planted to create a beautiful pollinator garden. 🌿🐝

Come hungry and ready to dig in – there will be free food, tools, and gloves provided, as well as giveaways for kids and adults! All ages are welcome, so bring your family, friends, and neighbors for a fun fall event that’s all about making our community greener. 🌞

🌍 Join the Baltimore Commission on Sustainability for the first session in our 3-month Climate Action Planning series! 🌍

TONIGHT, Wednesday, October 16th, from 4-6 pm, we’ll explore sustainable waste practices with presentations from Clean Water Action Maryland, Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)’s Office of Waste Diversion, and the Maryland Department of the Environment. Learn about new legislative proposals for composting and yard waste diversion, set to be introduced during the 2025 general assembly session, and hear about DPW’s proposed compost facility project.
