Maryland Department of Health WIC Program Better Nutrition Brighter Future WIC serves over 8.2 million women, infants and children through over 10,000 clinics nationwide.

WIC is a federally funded program that provides healthy supplemental foods and nutrition counseling for pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children under age five. In 2007, Maryland WIC served over 130,000 women, infants and children each month.

Warm up your mornings with a comforting bowl of baked oatmeal! Top it with your favorite fruit or a drizzle of honey for an extra touch of sweetness. 🫐🍯

Baked oatmeal recipe:

11/2 cup milk
2 large eggs
1/4 cup maple syrup or compacted brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
11/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups rolled oats or instant oatmeal

Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC). Butter an 8 x 8-inch (20 x 20 cm) baking dish and set aside.

2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk all the ingredients together except the oats until everything is well integrated. Then stir in the oats and mix.

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the mixture is set.

5. Allow to cool slightly and then cut into squares. Serve warm with your favorite toppings, such as fruit, nuts, milk, cream, maple syrup or honey on top.

1. Precaliente el horno a 350 ºF (180 ºC). Enmantequille una fuente para hornear de 8 x 8 pulgadas (20 x 20 cm) y déjela a un lado.

2. En un bol grande para mezclar, bata todos los ingredientes juntos excepto la avena hasta que todo esté bien integrado. Luego, incorpore la avena y mezcle.

3. Vierta la mezcla en la fuente para hornear ya preparada y distribúyala de forma pareja.

4. Hornee durante 30 a 40 minutos, o hasta que la mezcla esté lista.

Our clinics will continue to operate during a government shutdown. This includes providing food benefits, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referral services.

In the event of a federal government shutdown, there will be no immediate impact on Maryland WIC families. Maryland WIC will remain open. WIC families can attend appointments and shop with their WIC Cards. New applicants can also apply for the program.
