Earlier this year, President Biden set a goal of getting 70% of adults in the country vaccinated by the Fourth of July. But in Maryland, we said we wanted to get 70% of adults vaccinated by Memorial Day, and that’s exactly what we have done. It was a more ambitious goal, but once again, our healthcare heroes have risen to the occasion, as have the millions of Marylanders stepping up to get the vaccine.

Our health and economic recovery continues to outpace the nation. Of course, our work is not yet done, and with a summer of mobile clinics ahead, we will continue to do all we can to make sure no arm is left behind. If you still need to get vaccinated, we encourage you to visit any of our thousands of distribution points across the state.

Today, Governor Larry Hogan announced a partnership between the Maryland Lottery and the Maryland Department of Health to provide $2 million for Marylanders who get vaccinated.

Beginning May 25, the Maryland Lottery will randomly select and award a $40,000 prize each and every day to a vaccinated Marylander and will continue to do this every single day for 40 straight days through July 3. On July 4, a final drawing will be held to award one vaccinated Marylander a grand prize of $400,000. That’s a total of $2 million in prize money for vaccinated Marylanders.

Entry is very simple—all you have to do is get vaccinated for COVID-19 here in Maryland, be a Maryland resident, and be 18 and older. Anyone 18 or older who has already been vaccinated for COVID-19 in Maryland at any time is also eligible for these prizes and will be automatically entered to win.

If you have not already been vaccinated, the sooner you do get your shot, the more lottery drawings you will be eligible for.

So go out and get vaccinated to protect yourself, your family, your friends, and your fellow Marylanders. And if you needed one more good reason, then go out and get vaccinated for your chance to win a share of this $2 million!

To schedule a vaccine appointment, visit: www.covidvax.maryland.gov

Our Story

Welcome to the official page for the Maryland Department of Health. We promote the health and safety of all Marylanders through disease prevention, access to care and customer service. The Department has four major administrations: Public Health, Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities and Health Care Financing (Medicaid). In support of our mission, we regulate health care providers, facilities and organizations; in addition to managing direct services to patients where appropriate.

Maryland’s health care delivery system includes public and private hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, home health care services, hospices, providers, health educators and more. The system also includes 24 local health departments — one in each of Maryland’s 23 counties and in Baltimore City — as well as 20 boards that license and regulate health care professionals and seven commissions that issue grants, conduct research and make recommendations on issues that affect Maryland’s health care delivery system.
