Dear HBCU Supporter,
We are 17 days away from HBCUs losing $85 million a year to educate our students. The program we are trying to protect and get funded is the Mandatory Title III/SAFRA funding—expiring on Sept. 30, 2019. As step one of this effort, the U.S. House of Representatives votes on this bill on the evening of Sept. 17. The measure must pass with a 2/3 majority vote.
All HBCU supporters should go to UNCF.org/protectingourfuture, and let Congress know to we need it to pass this bill. So far, nearly 20,000 calls and emails have gone to Congress this month.
We need more! Please send out messages to your alumni friends today and throughout the weekend! Everyone can join us in sending messages to Congress about the need to pass the mandatory funding for Title III/the FUTURE Act by:
1. Going to UNCF.org/protectingourfuture
2. Clicking on “write your Member of Congress”
3. Filling out the blank fields and click “next”
4. Clicking submit. The pre-written letter will be sent to your U.S. Representative and both of your U.S. Senators. You will get an email from UNCF confirming your letters were delivered
