Behind every displacement statistic is a person.

A parent searching for safety. A child separated from home. A family wondering where they will find clean water, food or medical care.

Since late 2025, intensified conflict has displaced at least 200,000 additional people across the wider Kordofan region of Sudan. Flooding and damage to essential infrastructure are placing even more pressure on families already facing an immense humanitarian crisis.

But the people of Sudan have not been forgotten.

World Relief has served in Sudan continuously since 2003. Today, our teams remain alongside communities, delivering lifesaving health and nutrition care, clean water, food assistance, protection services and support for sustainable livelihoods.

As needs continue to grow, so does our commitment to remain present, respond with compassion and help crisis-affected families move toward a more hopeful future.

After two devastating earthquakes struck Caracas and the surrounding regions in Venezuela on June 24, families like Ariadna’s were thrown into crisis.

But thanks to the church, urgent needs are being met. In partnership with local churches and ministries in Venezuela, we are reaching families with emergency food baskets, hygiene kits, essential medicines, safe drinking water and other critical relief supplies. Through pastoral care, case management and community support, we are standing alongside those impacted by this disaster, both in Venezuela and among the Venezuelan diaspora.

In moments of profound loss, we are reminded that God is near to the brokenhearted. Thank you for stepping in for families like Ariadna’s when it matters most.

New evidence from Ukraine shows that hope, paired with practical support, can help families thrive even amid crisis.

A University of Oxford wartime trial published in The Lancet Regional Health - Europe found that parents and caregivers participating in Hope Groups reported 52.7% less violence against children and 57.4% lower levels of depression and anxiety symptoms, along with stronger parenting practices and greater hope.

Hope Groups are a 12-session program that provides psychosocial and mental health support while equipping caregivers with positive parenting skills.

World Relief is honored to have served as an incubator for Hope Groups and the first international NGO implementer to offer this innovative model. Through the Global Hope Groups Collaborative, we are working alongside global and local partners to expand Hope Groups in crisis-affected communities, including Ukraine, Chad and Sudan.

By partnering with local churches and communities, we can help families build resilience and thrive, even amid crisis.

What does poverty have to do with the global forced migration crisis? It turns out, quite a lot.

Every year, families like Kashunga and Zamda’s undertake a journey to find safety and refuge. Often, this journey leads them to encounter extreme poverty — just another obstacle that needs to be overcome.

On the blog, we explain more about how poverty is driving the global displacement crisis, and how we’re partnering with churches like those in Nyankanda to respond. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3UfXMS1

“Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

In recent weeks, natural disasters and catastrophic weather events have crowded the headlines. Earthquakes in Venezuela, Colombia, Japan and Indonesia. Flooding in the Philippines and the Midwest United States. And more, impacting countless families around the world.

We see first-hand how disasters like these often become drivers of displacement, uprooting families from homes and communities that are no longer safe.

It can feel heavy to watch the news and carry these stories — to see how creation groans under the weight of suffering. But as Christians, we also believe that there is hope, and that creation is bending towards ultimate restoration. And that through our prayers and actions, we can join in God’s work to bring his Kingdom here on earth.

Will you join us in this breath prayer for God’s mercy and provision towards all in need of healing and safety in the wake of disasters?

117.8 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide as of the end of 2025. That's more than the population of Germany.

70% have been stuck for 5+ years with no way home. 39% are children.

These aren't just numbers. They’re real people with real stories. Know the facts — then share them, so more people do too.

Legal immigration has been cut 2.5 times more than illegal immigration.

Behind that number are real people, families with legal status now facing deportation, TPS holders losing protection, and DACA recipients waiting to see what's next.

Scripture is clear: love the foreigner, defend the fatherless, welcome the stranger.
