4th Combat Engineer Battalion

4th Combat Engineer Battalion 4th Combat Engineer Battalion is a Marine Corps Reserve engineer battalion. Deployed during February 1944 to the Pacific area.

4th Combat Engineer Battalion is a combat engineer battalion of the Marine Corps Reserves. The battalion is composed of 7 companies geographically dispersed over 5 states as follows: Headquarters and Service Company and Engineer Support Company are located at the headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland; Alpha Company is located in Charleston, West Virginia; Bravo Company is located in Roanoke, Virgini

a; Charlie Company is located in Lynchburg, Virginia; Delta Company is located in Knoxville, Tennessee; and Echo Company is located in Bessemer, Alabama.

1943-1945

Activated in 1943 at Camp Pendleton, California as Headquarters Company 1stBattalion, 2oth Marines, 4th Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force. Redesignated 31 August 1944 as Headquarters and Service Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force. Participated in the following WWII campaigns: Kwajalein, Saipan, Tinian, Iwo Jima. Redeployed during October 1945 to Maui, territory of Hawaii. Relocated during November 1945 to Camp Pendleton, California, and deactivated in November of 1945.

1951-1989

Reactivated on 1 November 1951 at Baltimore, Maryland, as Headquarters Company, 1st Engineer Battalion, USMCR. Redesignated 1 July 1962 as 4th Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, USMCR. Redesignated 1 June 1976 as 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, USMCR.

1990-2009

Elements mobilized during December 1990-January 1991 in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Elements participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, South West Asia, December 1990-April 1991. Elements returned during March-July 1991 and demobilized. Mobilized and participated in Operation Iraqi freedom, Iraq, January-May 2003 and 2004-2008.

📍 Marine Corps Base Quantico (Jan. 10, 2024)

with 4th Combat Engineer Battalion participate in a live fire course with the M3A1 Multi Role Anti-armor Anti-personnel Weapon System (MAAWS).

The Marines conducted classroom training and both a day and night range to ensure unit leaders are proficient and confident in their abilities to communicate, operate, and engage targets with the MAAWS.

The Corps' newest Marine: Jack Lowe

On behalf of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Brig. Gen. Walker M. Field, the commanding general of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. and Eastern Recruiting Region, presents the “Honorary Marine” title to Jack Lowe, a Flowery Branch native, during a ceremony at the Lowe family residence.

Lowe was honored for his unwavering dedication and his remarkable resilience in the face of adversity through his ongoing fight with Ewing Sarcoma.
