I joined a coalition urging the U.S. Department of Labor not to move forward with a rule that could put retirement savings at greater risk.

The proposal would make it easier for retirement plans to invest in higher-risk assets, including cryptocurrency, potentially exposing workers and retirees to significant financial losses. Marylanders deserve retirement plans that put long-term financial security first.

My Consumer Protection Division has filed charges against MV Realty for allegedly offering a “Homeowner Benefit Agreement” that was really a disguised loan. According to our charges, homeowners received a small upfront payment, but MV Realty placed a lien against their home and charged thousands of dollars if they sold the property without using the company.

Marylanders deserve honest lending practices and clear terms when making decisions about their homes.

For decades, the remains of hundreds of Black children have rested in unmarked graves at a state-supported institution that was supposed to protect and care for them.

The creation of the Commission on the House of Reformation and Instruction for Colored Children is an important step toward uncovering the truth about what happened at the former Cheltenham institution, honoring these children with dignity, and ensuring their stories are never forgotten.

I’m releasing new guidance to help Marylanders respond to online hate, harassment, and cyberbullying. Online threats and harassment can cause real harm. This resource helps people understand what steps they can take, including how to report abuse, preserve evidence, and protect themselves online.

There’s no home for hate in Maryland, online or anywhere else.

I led a coalition of attorneys general and governors in urging the court to uphold the ruling blocking the unlawful deployment of National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. These troops should respond to emergencies and natural disasters, not patrol city streets.

Our Office will continue defending the rule of law and the principle that the military must remain under civilian control.

I joined a bipartisan effort opposing a federal bill that could weaken states’ ability to protect children online and hold Big Tech accountable.

States need to be able to respond to harms involving social media, online platforms, and emerging technologies like AI. Children’s safety online should come before protecting tech companies from accountability.

Memorial Day carries a different weight. It’s about the people who never made it home and the families who continue to carry that loss.

As we spend time with loved ones this weekend, we also pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We honor their sacrifice, their courage, and the freedoms they helped protect.
