Mount Clare Museum House

Mount Clare Museum House Mount Clare is the 1760s Georgian home of early Maryland politician and patriot, Charles Carroll, Barrister.

Owned by Maryland and operated by the B&O Railroad Museum and the National Society of the Colonial Dames in America in the State of Maryland, Mount Clare is one of the oldest houses in Baltimore. It tells the story of Charles Carroll, barrister, his wife, Margaret Tilghman Carroll, their family, and the slaves and indentured servants who lived there. Carroll objects furnish the house in addition t

o other 18th and 19th century antiques. The museum not only emphasizes those who lived in the house, Carrolls and slaves/servants, but also reminds the visitor of the house's use by others, including the Union Army during the Civil War and a German social club at the end of the 1800s.
