Thoughtful Weddings

Thoughtful Weddings Marriage Officient Most of my long life I have had deep interracial relationships as well as traveled and lived abroad.

I am a wedding officiant centered in Baltimore, Maryland, who will marry any couple who meets the legal requirements and intends a life-long commitment to one another. I have performed marriage ceremonies for straight couples in churches and parks, for a gay couple in a penthouse, and even for two social activists in a union hall singing labor songs! Therefore, I am familiar with - and ready to ce

lebrate - all the interesting dynamics of marriages that cross racial, religious, and cultural boundaries. As a young man I was trained and ordained as an Episcopal priest and I am now licensed under Universal Ministries. Please know that I can and will happily do secular ceremonies for those with no religious affiliations. Phillip Rose and Tamara Perry, married in a beautiful ceremony in their back yard with family and close friends on September 27th. Masks were removed for the actual wedding, but I was impressed by the care and social distancing practiced by everyone. They made sure they got a "healthy" start.

If you are a Baltimorean "of a certain age" and went clubbing you will remember HammerJacks! This was the venue, now transformed into the beautiful Assembly Room, where it was my privilege to marry Colleen and Andrew. I had spend many months getting to know them, and the huge size of the guest list and the enormity of the space actually amplified the obvious large-hearted warmth and intimacy that exists between Andrew and Colleen. Ashley and Demetrius were married in August at the Savage Mill Manor Home. The wedding included a "family blending" ceremony. This wonderful couple began 6 years earlier when their "OK Cupid" accounts declared that they were 97% incompatible! Being adventurous people, they both swiped right - and here they are!!

In a beautiful early evening wedding at the Baltimore Zoo, Autumn and Jon were married on October 26, 2019. At the reception afterwards a screech owl (!) was brought out to join the festivities - and a penguin! Beauty and the beasts!

Kathryn and Fred were married on 10/05/19 in a colorful and lovely ceremony at the American Visionary Art Museum. This has to be one of the most unique venues in Baltimore - or any other location. Where else could you get married surrounded by a simultaneous combination of gas balloon, giant pink poodle, life-sized statue of "Divine", painted screens and marble steps.

Christina and Joseph were married by me but NOT in the middle of Charles St. in downtown Baltimore. The wedding took place at The Grand (old Masonic Hall next to the historic Old st. Paul's Episcopal Church.) I've never seen a couple more outwardly eager to get married. They just fed off of each other's fun - and so did I - and everyone else!

Siddarth and Jen were married on August 31st at Hunt Valley Country Club. There was no "first look," but the couple held hands at the corner of two walls as they read personal letters to each other prior to the ceremony. And the ceremony itself incorporated several Hindu rituals, one of which, Aarti, was a flaming brazier (seen here being held by the couple at the rehearsal) which I rotated in the air 3 times in front of them to symbolize the presence of the divine. Then the couple used their hands to gather the heat from the flame to themselves and touched their foreheads and chests, acknowledging the need to feel the divine and to lead principles lives. The wedding ended with the couple each putting over the other's head a garland that joins the temporary beautiful flowers, - that will fade with time - together with cords of commitment, which will endure.

Today's wedding with Brandon and Marta was at the beautiful Historic Londontown and Gardens on the South River below Annapolis. In the late 18th and early 19th century it was built as a small to***co port with a ferry. The "mansion" was built by a man who went backrupt and never got to occupy it, and the building was used until 1965 as the country Almshouse! (What a view!) Now it is a gorgeous wedding venue. Later this week this handsome couple will be heading off to Poland, where her family lives, for another celebration.
