Last week, the Recruiting and Retention Battalion (RRB) hosted a de-hatting ceremony for Drill Sergeant Donita Adams, who is moving on to the next stage of her career as Sgt. 1st Class Adams, completing her time as one of RRB's influential drill sergeants.

Join us in congratulating her on this exciting transition!

“This training matters because we don’t get a second chance during an emergency. Whether that’s saving somebody’s life or transportation to a medical facility, you don’t get a second chance to do that correctly.”

Maryland National Guard members strengthened their skills and ability to respond to emergencies alongside interagency partners during a search-and-rescue exercise.

Summer in Maryland means longer days, cookouts, road trips, and time with family and friends — but it also marks the start of the “101 Critical Days of Summer,” a period historically associated with increased travel accidents and alcohol-related incidents.

The Maryland National Guard encourages everyone to make smart decisions this summer. If you choose to drink, plan ahead and designate a sober driver. One decision can save lives.

Our Soldiers and Airmen are committed to protecting and serving our communities on and off duty, and summer safety starts with all of us.

Meet Maryland Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Ronnie Huggins, an information systems security officer for the 175th Communications Squadron.

He began his National Guard journey as a crew chief assigned to the 175th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. As the mission for the 175th Wing shifted away from flying, Huggins adapted as well, focusing on the cyber mission at hand.

“I am proud to serve in the National Guard for many reasons," stated Huggins. "My biggest reason is the effectiveness of our members and our ability to adapt to changing missions. I am looking forward to the development and modernization of the technology the Air Force is using and getting to be a part of that advancement."

The Maryland Army National Guard’s 224th Medical Company (Area Support) partnered with the Army Medical Logistics Command to ensure our medical devices are mission-ready for Vigorous Warrior in Estonia next month.

The 224th MCAS holds the largest medical inventory in the state, but relies on just two Soldiers to manage all of the varied equipment, so this partnership is vital for the upcoming overseas exercise and overall readiness.
