South Carolina's 2025 law overhaul emphasizes safety, accountability and local flexibility.
Compliance with permit, insurance, age, speed and distance is mandatory. Failure to follow these laws can result in fines, penalties and/or confiscation of the golf cart.
We at Bamberg Police Department are aware that we live in a small town with not a lot to do but SAFETY is of our utmost concern. Due to the number of complaints of these young children driving golf carts running stop signs, pulling out in front of cars etc. We must enforce theses laws so that at the end of the day your children are home safe.
In the City of Bamberg you are allowed to drive at night as long as the golf cart is equipped with working headlights and taillights. You are also allowed to cross the main highways (301/78) to access secondary roads.
