cement for Bamberg County which is located in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Bamberg County consists of 396 square miles with a population of 16,000 people. The sheriff's office's constitutional authority is to provide a civil function. However, as with most counties in S.C., the BCSO also provides a wide range of police services as well and provides physical and operational security to the courts (City, County, Family and State).

🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will close the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 301 at Cooper Swamp (Mile Marker 4.78) in Orangeburg County beginning
🚨Monday, May 12, 2026, due to storm-related bridge damage requiring emergency repairs.

At this time, one northbound lane is already closed, and both northbound lanes will be closed to allow crews to safely complete repairs. The southbound lanes will remain open to traffic.

Motorists traveling in the area are urged to plan ahead, expect delays, and use caution when approaching the work zone. Please consider alternate routes if possible.

The Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office encourages all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and help keep roadway workers and fellow motorists safe.
