Today, we’re celebrating and thanking two incredible interns, Molly and Jasmine, as they complete their time with the CourageLIVES program. Their compassion, dedication, and willingness to walk alongside survivors has made a meaningful impact on our team and the people we serve.

While they preferred to stay off camera, their work behind the scenes speaks volumes. We are so grateful for the care, energy, and heart they brought to this journey.

β€œOh, the places they’ll go.” ✨ We wish them both the very best in the next chapter ahead and know they will continue making a difference wherever life leads them.

Thank you for being part of the Saint Andre Home family. πŸ’›

We are sad to hear that R**e Response's much-needed housing navigation services are coming to an end for trafficking survivors. We thank them for the work they have done to help this population in our community.

If you or someone you know is a trafficking survivor and needs supportive services, please reach out to us (207) 282-3351 or [email protected].

As of April 30th, our Human Trafficking Housing Navigation Program will be coming to an end due to funding. This program has been an important part of helping survivors and their families find safety, stability, and a place to call home.

We are deeply grateful to our incredible community partners and dedicated landlords who worked alongside us to make this program possible. Your collaboration and commitment made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

We also want to extend a special thank you to our Housing Navigator, Gabrielle. Without her dedication, compassion, and hard work, this program would not have been as successful. Her impact has been truly invaluable.

Most importantly, we want to thank the survivors and their families who trusted us to walk alongside them during such important moments. Your strength, resilience, and courage continue to inspire us every day.

While this chapter is closing, our commitment to supporting survivors remains as strong as ever. Please reach out to our helpline if you need support 1.800.871.7741πŸ’™

Partners for Peace is the DV Resource Center serving Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties – the oldest in the state and the second oldest in the nation! We are fortunate that they are among our many community partners offering coordinated care to survivors in this region.

In recognition of National Crime Victims' Rights Week, WABI is putting a spotlight on the important work being done in our region. The SAFE Nurse Program at St. Joseph Healthcare is a critical resource for those who need to seek medical attention, sometimes as the first point of contact for survivors.

For some victims of crime, the emergency department may be the first place they seek help.

We are grateful to have many community partners working to support survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault. One outstanding partner is our friend Keri Kapaldo with the SAFE nurses program at St. Joseph Hospital here in Bangor. We encourage you to listen to this interview with Keri to learn more about the important work they do!

🎧 Podcast Share | Human Trafficking Awareness Month

In this episode of the Q-Point Podcast, hosts Corenna and David Quirk speak with Keri Kapaldo, RN, SAFE Program Coordinator at St. Joseph Hospital, about Maine’s Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program and why it matters.

Keri explains how SAFE nurses work alongside the emergency department to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care for people impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and human trafficking. She also shares what makes St. Joseph Hospital unique, including guaranteed SAFE nurse availability and a focus on reducing repeated retelling of trauma.

The conversation also highlights an important issue in Maine: the state is the last in the nation without a statewide sexual assault kit-tracking system, and why that matters for survivors.

During Human Trafficking Awareness Month, this episode is a powerful reminder of how healthcare plays a critical role in supporting survivors with dignity, choice, and care.

We attended the annual vigil to end human trafficking hosted by Sisters of St. Joseph of Cambridge this past weekend. It was meaningful to share space with others committed to raising awareness about this important issue.
