My name is Janet. With Bill Rae’s permission, I have created this page.

For more than 20 years, Bill Rae and his associates at Manna Ministries have been feeding the homeless and poor of the greater Bangor area, and have collected and distributed non perishable foods to distribute to families in need in the area and throughout the state of Maine. What many of you may not know is that Manna grows a garden each year to supplement the food they collect from generous donors. This garden is a vital part of Manna’s outreach to people who rely on the meals prepared in the ministry’s kitchen.

This year, with Bill’s blessing, I am launching a Facebook drive to collect donations of gardening supplies needed to expand Manna’s garden. The need is great, and I pray the generosity of people who are able to help will rise to meet it. Here is a list of what is needed.

a tractor
a tiller
a garden cart
a watering system and water hoses
wire fencing to keep out animals
tomato cages of all sizes
poles for pole beans
organic fertilizer (manure should be at least 2 years old)
chicken wire
mulching hay and straw
oil of neem (found in garden supply centers)
nastursium, marigolds, mums and cosmos (these flowers repel insects)

Of course, monetary donations are always welcome. Just write Manna Victory Garden on the bottom of the check, money order, or envelope. Checks are to be made out to Manna Ministries, Inc..
