Your Civilian Skills Matter to the Mission

You bring more to the Navy Reserve than your rate or designator. Your civilian career, expertise, and professional skills matter too.

Civilian Skills Information (CSI) in NSIPS is how the Navy Reserve captures that full picture. Updating it takes minutes and helps Navy leaders connect your background in fields like cybersecurity, robotics, logistics, data analytics, or other high-demand areas to assignments and missions where those skills have the greatest impact.

A few things worth knowing:

Updating Civilian Employment Information (CEI) annually is mandatory for all SELRES. Updating CSI is optional, but it is one of the most effective ways to open doors beyond your traditional rate or designator.

Your data is protected. Neither CEI nor CSI can be used as a basis for mobilization.

The Navy Reserve's greatest asymmetric advantage is our people. Update your CSI and make sure leadership knows what you bring to the fight.

Log in to NSIPS and update your profile today.
