Gray's Lily is an endangered plant that an observant hiker may see along Grandfather Mountain State Park's trails. They have a very restricted range and narrow habitat corridor. Unfortunately, the lilies are also a favorite snack of deer and have been heavily impacted by a nonnative blight that targets lilies. These are making an already rare species even more scarce with few reaching maturity to produce seed. If you happen to notice one, take a picture but keep your distance. People are thought to contribute to the blight's spread.
