Congratulations to the new parents and outstanding work by Officer Simmons and the San Gorgonio Pass Area - serving the public in ways people don't always see:

On April 28, 2026, at approximately 4:18 PM the CHP San Gorgonio Pass received a call for service regarding a driver who was going into labor and was requesting medical assistance on the Interstate 10 westbound Cherry Valley Boulevard offramp. Upon arriving on scene Officer Simmons was directed to the driver in distress by family members and without delay our officer put on his proper protective equipment and began assisting the driver. At approximately 4:31 PM Officer Simmons helped deliver the baby boy named Sonny on the side of the offramp prior to the Calimesa Fire Department arriving on scene. Mom and Sonny were then transported to the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital where they are doing well.

Closing out Women’s History Month by honoring a true trailblazer. 🚔✨ Ramona Prieto broke barriers as the first female motor officer, showing that determination and courage can pave the way for generations to come.

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we recognize the women who came before us, the ones leading today, and those who will continue to shape the future.
