Casey Barber, the first food writer and artist invited to Acadia's artist-in-residence program, will be making homemade flatbreads topped with a variety of local and seasonal ingredients at 2 pm Mon Sept 5 (Labor Day) outside the Sieur de Monts Nature Center. Holiday parking is expected to be limited. Consider biking, or ride the Island Explorer.

Casey finds inspiration in local foodways and diverse landscapes to write about the intersection of food and American culture with humor and insight. For her current project with a working title, "Maine Ingredients: Recipes Inspired by Acadia National Park," she is in recipe development for dishes like beach rose panna cotta, cold crab shio ramen with local kombu, and a Cadillac Mountain Sunrise cocktail.

Casey is the founder and editor of the website Good.Food.Stories, www.goodfoodstories.com. She received a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, and a bachelor’s degree in English and visual art/art history from Bucknell University.
